Year In Review

Okay, so I'm a slacker...or maybe just super busy...but here is the last year in a nutshell.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It is about being with family, showing gratitude, and of course food...and there is no stress of presents or costumes or anything like that. I love living so close to my mom and being able to see family so often, but Thanksgiving is special. We had another great feast last year, but did miss not having everyone there. The bigger the family gets, the harder it is to get everyone at the same time. Christmas came and went, another great season of traditions and family. I know the kids won't remember their presents, but will remember being together. January brought Trevor's 17th birthday. Crazy. I have already started tearing up just thinking about him leaving for his mission. Randi turned 16 in May. Just. Plain. Wrong. I shouldn't have a daughter that can date. She loves to chase the boys and they chase back. I do feel sorry for her first date, though. When he came to pick her up, Wade was out in the yard with the chainsaw. I guess being interrogated is bad enough, but to have a dad with Wade's stature holding a chainsaw whilst doing it....well, we laughed afterwards. The kids all did very well in school. It was fun that Charlee, Tucker and Ryanne were all Husky Scholars the same month! Charlee was also presented with a special "Hope of America" award. Ben graduated from MLMS with a 4.0 GPA, and Trevor and Randi finished with flying colors. We had so many certificates come home at the end of school...yep, I'm a very pleased Mom.

Summer went by way to fast. Our Memorial Day camping trip with Kellie turned into the "Great Cave In of 2011" when we were snowed upon and the tent came crashing down, trapping all 9 of us, plus the dog, inside at 2am. It took Wade and Kellie almost an hour to get us all out. But hey, we've got the memories! We spent Kyall's birthday at Bear Lake. Can't believe she is already 2 years old. I hate how fast it goes. I took her to Disneyland a couple of weeks earlier to celebrate her birthday. She LOVES Minnie Mouse. The look on her face the first time she met Mickey was priceless. She was a little sick on the trip, and didn't appreciate standing in line only to have to get off the ride when it ended, but got to spend some time with Mom and Grandma. Priceless. She is beyond spoiled, but she hasn't really hit the "terrible twos" like the others did. They all started at 18 months, she only throws a fit if she is super tired (but then, so do I) or sick. July also brought another fun trip to the hospital for me. I ended up in ICU with a kidney infection, gone septic, got pneumonia, CDiff, and colitis. Not fun. I guess things got pretty bad, thankfully I didn't know it at the time. After getting all the infections cleared out, I had a laparotmy to remove two benign tumors. I really need to just be done. In August, Ryanne turned 7 and Tucker hit double digits at 10. The kids had girl's camp, high adventure, APTC, the primary parade, all the usual, but we didn't get to go on a vacation as a family. I was not ready to send them all back to school, I missed out on a chunk of summer and wanted to keep them home a little longer. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that Trevor is a Senior, Randi (a Junior) is dating, Ben (Freshman) started High School, my little itty bitty Charlee is at the Middle School, and Tucker and Ryanne are flying through Elementary School. I hate how fast it goes.

We have settled into the new school year, filled with many "lasts" and many "firsts" for the kids. I know they are so excited to be doing these things, I just hope that I can make it through it:) Trevor, Randi and Ben were all on the LHS Cross Country Team this season. So fun to see them run together. Randi even qualified for State. Trevor and Ben were awarded their Eagle Scout Awards last week, finally! We tell Tuck that he needs to be done before he turns 14. Less stress. My little baby pumpkin Charlee turns 12 today...a beehive! I hate how fast it goes. Ben's birthday is coming soon, followed by another season of holidays. I love my "little" family and cherish every moment we have together (but especially the happy ones!) knowing that before I know it, they will be grown and gone. I really do hate how fast it goes.
